Beaver Creek is Colorado's most exclusive gated ski resort. Every vehicle entering the community passes through a security checkpoint on Village Road. Moving trucks require advance registration with Vail Resorts security — crew names, vehicle descriptions, property address, and expected arrival time. Without this coordination, you don't get through the gate.
We've moved families into Beaver Creek Village, Bachelor Gulch, and Arrowhead for three decades. We know the security protocols, the building managers, the HOA requirements, and the seasonal blackout periods that govern when moves can happen. This isn't knowledge you get from a website — it's experience from hundreds of moves through that checkpoint.
Moving In and Out of Beaver Creek Communities
Beaver Creek Village: The heart of the resort. Properties here include the Ritz-Carlton Residences, Park Hyatt condos, Charter condos, St. James Place, and various ski-in/ski-out buildings. Each has its own loading dock, freight elevator schedule, and move-in requirements. The village pedestrian plaza prohibits vehicles — we stage from designated service areas and use hand equipment for final delivery.
Bachelor Gulch: A separate gated community within the Beaver Creek umbrella, accessed via Bachelor Gulch Road. Security clearance is separate from Beaver Creek Village — we register with Bachelor Gulch specifically. Properties range from Ritz-Carlton Residences to custom mountain homes. The terrain is steep; many driveways require our shuttle truck.
Arrowhead: East of Beaver Creek Village with its own entrance and HOA. Arrowhead has a different character — more single-family homes, less resort infrastructure. HOA protocols are less stringent than the Village, but we still coordinate with property managers for homes with specific requirements.
Strawberry Park: The residential neighborhood between Avon and Beaver Creek Village. Not gated, but many properties have HOAs with move-in requirements. More accessible than the Village core, but still mountain terrain with steep driveways and winter access challenges.
Security Checkpoint and Access Protocols
The Beaver Creek security checkpoint operates 24/7. For moving trucks, we submit registration 48–72 hours in advance through Vail Resorts' vendor system. This includes: company name and DOT number, truck description and license plate, driver and crew names, property owner name and address, expected arrival and departure times.
On move day, our driver presents ID at the checkpoint. Security verifies the registration, issues a day pass, and provides routing instructions if needed. The process takes 5–10 minutes. For multi-day moves, we re-register for each day.
Bachelor Gulch has a separate security gate with its own registration process. If your move involves both Beaver Creek Village and Bachelor Gulch properties (not uncommon for clients relocating within the resort), we handle both registrations.
During ski season and major events (World Cup races, wine festivals, holiday weeks), the resort restricts non-essential vehicle traffic. We coordinate with your building and the resort to identify approved move windows — often early morning before lifts open or late afternoon after the mountain closes.
HOA and Building Requirements
Beaver Creek buildings have some of the most detailed move-in requirements in Colorado. Typical requirements include:
- Certificate of Insurance: $1M general liability, $2M umbrella, naming the HOA as additional insured. We maintain COIs that meet most Beaver Creek buildings' requirements and can customize within 24 hours.
- Elevator Reservations: Freight elevator time is limited and shared among all building moves and deliveries. We book 2–4 weeks in advance for ski season dates.
- Security Deposits: Some buildings require refundable deposits ($500–$2,500) to cover potential damage. Released after move inspection.
- Floor Protection: Required in most buildings. We bring our own Masonite and carpet protection.
- Blackout Periods: Many buildings prohibit moves during holiday weeks, race weekends, and peak ski season Saturdays. We'll tell you upfront which dates are available.
Specialty Items and White-Glove Service
Beaver Creek homes often contain collections that require specialized handling. We regularly move:
- Fine Art: Custom crating, climate-controlled transport, and professional installation. We work with galleries and private collectors throughout the Vail Valley.
- Wine Collections: Climate-controlled vehicles maintain proper temperature during transport. We can coordinate with wine storage facilities for extended storage needs.
- Grand Pianos: Piano board and dolly work for tight turns and freight elevators. Steinway, Yamaha, Bösendorfer — we've moved them all in Beaver Creek.
- Custom Furniture: Oversized pieces that won't fit in standard elevators require disassembly/reassembly or crane work. We assess access during our initial walkthrough.
White-glove service is standard for Beaver Creek moves: furniture pad-wrapping, floor protection, door frame padding, and detailed inventory. We treat every item as if it were irreplaceable — because in many Beaver Creek homes, it is.
Routes and Timing
From our Silverthorne base: I-70 west through the Vail Pass tunnel to Exit 167 (Avon), then Village Road up to Beaver Creek. About 35 minutes in clear conditions. We schedule around I-70 rush hours and ski traffic.
From Denver and the Front Range: I-70 west, about 2 hours to Beaver Creek in clear conditions. Weekend ski traffic can double that time December through March. For Front Range moves, we often stage in Silverthorne overnight rather than fight afternoon traffic.
Best timing: Mid-week moves are essential for Beaver Creek. Tuesday through Thursday offers lighter resort traffic, easier security processing, and better building availability. Avoid holiday weeks entirely if possible — the resort is at capacity and move windows are extremely limited.
