Packing Tips
Here are pointers for making your move easier for you -- and for us!
- Heavy items should only be placed in small boxes.
- Items best for packing in small boxes include books, wine, tools,
canned food, compact discs and records, videocassette tapes, files,
and any miscellaneous fragile items. Make sure and label fragile boxes!
- Medium-sized boxes are best for items like pots and pans, small
appliances, boots and shoes, stereos, or VCRs.
- Large-sized boxes are best for dry goods, towels, linens, lampshades,
tupperware, clothing, games, and any other large but not heavy items.
- Wardrobe boxes are very useful large boxes. Much taller than an
ordinary box, they can be used to hang clothes and the bottom can
be filled with linens, pillows, shoes, towels, or sweaters to utilize
all the space of the box.
- Lamp boxes are tall and skinny, and can be very useful for packing
2-3 lamps. You can also pack vases, blueprints, blankets, clay pots,
or stereo speakers in lamp boxes!
- Dish boxes are used to pack dishes, china, glasses, and vases.
You need to wrap each item in paper or bubble wrap and use a cell
kit to separate the items in the box. Plates should go on the bottom,
small plates and bowls in the middle, and glasses should go on top.
- All of these items are available for purchase from Majestic Mountain
Movers. Give us a call today!
Helpful Hints
- Since we often work in winter conditions, we ask that you have
the driveway plowed, stairways shoveled, and the walkways into the
house de-iced prior to our arrival. This is necessary for us to safely
and expediently do our job.
- One option to save time and money on the job is to organize your
boxes in an orderly manner in easily accessible locations. Make sure
they are all taped closed and appropriately labeled. You can also
disassemble your bed frames if you like, which can also save time.
How much you want to do and how much you want us to do is your decision,
as it is our mission to serve you, our valuable customers.
- When unloading, it is often very helpful to have a representative
of the home directing our movers in terms of what goes in what room
in the new location.
- If you are placing your items into storage, we strongly recommend
that you have us shrink wrap and pad all furniture and bag your mattresses
and box springs. This can protect them against damage, dust, dirt,
and water in the storage unit.
